With record breaking poverty, unemployment, and all-around failure conquered, Detroit focuses on the next big topic: Jail time for parents who skip parent teach conferences...

It honestly amazes how many "politicians" get the positions they do.  Besides lying about 110% of what they say, common sense is something they could only ever dream of having.  Such a case can be seen in a new proposal in Detroit.  You see, they have apparently already figured out how to fix unemployment, poverty, overcrowded prison systems, and all other meaningful things that are wrong in the city.  Because now, Wayne County (Detroit area) Prosecutor Kym Worthy is pushing to have a new law established on the books: Jail time for parents who skip parent-teacher conferences.

What the hell.  Can you say stupid?  Waste of resources?  Lack of common sense?  At no point does that seem like a rational, good idea.  Prison systems are filling up with countless people over stupid laws.  So jailing people simply because they couldn't or wouldn't come to a parent-teacher conference is just bullshit.  Even if the stipulation that sentences could be delayed and ultimately waived if the parent attended a "second chance" conference, it's still a huge waste of resources.  Never mind the fact that it would be virtually impossible to enforce.

How about the same genius behind this parent-teacher jail time proposal also push for a law that jails teachers for performing poorly.  I mean, if a parent neglecting a parent teacher conference is so bad, a teacher who sucks at their job should be thrown in jail too, right?  It just goes to show you how lack of common sense and priorities are literally destroying this country.
